Drought is a natural disaster that has impacts on society, the environment, and ecosystem. Ethiopia faced many horrible severe drought events in last few decades. Even though there are some drought-related studies country, most of investigations were focused meteorological analysis. This study was hydrological analysis using streamflow index (SDI). The main objective to identify drought-prone areas years. Streamflow data collected from 34 stations analyze SDI seasonal (3-month) annual (12-month) timescales. implies time scale high frequency occurrence but short duration, whereas low with large magnitude. overall result shows 1984/85, 1986/87, 2002/03, 2010/11 extreme years all river basins. 1980s found which occurred country. spatial Tekeze, Abbay, Baro basins have similar characters; Awash Rift Valley River show relatively same character, Genale Dawa Wabishebele character.
